Aesthetic Treatments

Nose Filler

Nose filler, also called non-surgical rhinoplasty, uses injectable dermal filler to make selected changes to the nasal contour. It may be considered for minor aesthetic concerns following an individual assessment. Although it does not involve surgery, it carries important risks that must be discussed before treatment.

What Can Nose Filler Change?

Filler adds volume to selected areas. This may help camouflage a small bridge irregularity, fill a shallow depression or adjust the appearance of the nasal tip.

Because the treatment adds material, it cannot make the nose physically smaller or narrower. It also does not correct a deviated septum or treat structural breathing problems. More substantial changes may require surgical assessment.

Is It Suitable for Everyone?

Suitability depends on your anatomy, the changes you want and your medical history. Consultation should include discussion of previous nasal surgery, injuries, filler treatments, allergies and current medicines.

Explain any breathing difficulties as well as aesthetic concerns. The assessment should establish whether filler can reasonably address your priorities and whether the potential benefits justify the risks.

Choosing not to proceed, or considering another approach, may be appropriate.

What Does Treatment Involve?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are commonly used for non-surgical nasal contouring. Treatment involves carefully placed injections, sometimes with local numbing to reduce discomfort.

Ask which product is proposed, why it is suitable and what follow-up and emergency arrangements are available. Product approval for one facial area does not automatically establish approval for use in the nose; indications vary by product and jurisdiction.

Results and Aftercare

Contour changes may be visible immediately, but early swelling can affect the appearance. Temporary tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising may occur.

Follow the treating clinician’s instructions about pressure on the nose, exercise and other aftercare. Attend any recommended review before deciding whether further treatment is needed.

Results are temporary, and their duration varies with the filler and individual response. Repeat treatment should follow reassessment rather than an automatic schedule.

Important Risks to Understand

The nose is a particularly sensitive area for filler because of its blood supply and connections with vessels around the eyes. Inadvertent injection into a blood vessel can block circulation.

Possible consequences include skin damage, tissue death and, rarely, permanent vision loss or stroke. Other complications include infection, lumps, asymmetry and filler migration.

Hyaluronic acid filler can sometimes be dissolved with hyaluronidase. However, this does not make the procedure fully reversible or guarantee that a serious complication can be corrected.

When to Seek Urgent Help

Seek immediate medical assessment for unusual or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, or a mottled colour change around the treated area.

Any sudden visual disturbance or loss of vision requires emergency care immediately. Do not wait for a routine follow-up appointment.

Discuss Your Goals

Contact the clinic to arrange an assessment and discuss the possibilities, limitations and risks of nose filler in relation to your concerns.
